PNG to JPG
Turn PNGs into smaller JPG files.
Convert JPG and JPEG images to PNG. Handy when an app, template or upload form only accepts PNG, or when you want to edit an image repeatedly without further quality loss.
Your images stay on your device. They are processed by your browser and never uploaded. How this works
JPG, up to 50 MB each. You can also paste an image.
PNG is lossless, so saving it again after edits does not lose more detail.
Some design tools, sticker apps and forms only accept PNG files.
The PNG stores the decoded image pixel for pixel.
| You can add | JPG / JPEG |
|---|---|
| You get | PNG (lossless, full colour) |
| Limits | Up to 50 MB and 64 megapixels per image, 100 images per batch |
Expect the PNG to be larger than the JPG. That is normal for photos; see the questions below.
Convert to PNG when you need a lossless working copy, when software requires PNG, or when you plan to add text or graphics on top and want crisp edges. To keep files small, convert back to JPG or WebP once editing is finished, or run the PNG through the PNG Compressor.
No. JPG images have no transparency, so the PNG has the same solid background. Making a background transparent requires a background-removal tool.
JPG saves space by discarding detail; PNG keeps every pixel exactly. Storing a photo losslessly takes far more space. If size matters, keep the JPG or use JPG to WebP instead.
No. Any detail lost when the JPG was first saved cannot be recovered. PNG simply prevents further loss from this point on.
